Co-Curricular Activities
Along with academics, co-curricular activities are crucial in shaping a child’s overall development. At Shri-G, we encourage students to explore and enhance their talents, ensuring they engage in a wide range of activities that contribute to their physical, mental, and emotional growth.
Sports & Physical Activities:
Outdoor sports such as swimming, skating, kabaddi, football, basketball, tennis, cricket, yoga, and martial arts form an integral part of our curriculum, promoting physical health and teamwork.
Creative Arts & Clubs:
In addition to routine art and craft activities, students enjoy creative outlets like floral displays, mask making, and more. We also offer specialized clubs for those with focused interests, such as:
- Math Club
- Eco Club
- Quiz & General Knowledge Club
- Public Speaking Club
- Computer Club
Music & Dance:
Students can explore vocal and instrumental music, as well as engage in Indian and Western dance forms. These artistic activities help foster creativity and self-expression.
Field Trips & Outdoor Learning:
We organize field trips that align with the curriculum, particularly for Kindergarten and primary school students. These trips are designed to deepen learning and enhance real-world understanding. Additionally, students participate in trekking camps, helping them develop resilience and confidence.
Value Education: Instilling Core Values
In today’s competitive world, we recognize that the erosion of moral and social values can have a profound impact on society. At Shri-G International School, we believe that instilling moral values is as important as academic knowledge.
Rather than confining moral education to a specific class or subject, we integrate values into all lessons, whether it’s English, Science, or Math. Through storytelling, puppet shows, and conversation classes, we emphasize key values like kindness, fairness, and politeness, ensuring that students not only learn but internalize these lessons.
Moral Lessons in Daily Learning:
For example, in math classes, topics such as time and money aren’t just taught as concepts; we emphasize the value of time and the importance of financial responsibility. The lessons learned are not only thought-provoking but also serve to shape the student’s character.
Morals and Spiritual Education
True education is not merely about passing exams but about nurturing noble qualities such as enthusiasm, courage, dedication, fearlessness, brilliance, and selfless service. As Aristotle wisely stated, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
At Shri-G, we focus on the spiritual and moral development of each student through activities like assemblies, prayers, and pooja. These practices guide students toward understanding their connection to God and the importance of virtues in their lives. In a world often dominated by materialism, we emphasize the importance of a balanced education that nurtures both the mind and spirit.
Co-Curricular Activities
Along with academics, extra-curricular activities play a vital role in the development of the child’s overall growth. Shri-G has always encouraged children to explore their talents. Sports and games in the curriculum ensure healthy and balanced growth of the students, who are encouraged to participate in a wide range of indoor and outdoor games at the school.
Outdoor sports include swimming, skating, kabbadi, football, basketball, tennis, cricket, yoga and Martial Arts. In addition to routine art and craft activities, children enjoy creating floral displays, mask making etc. For children with focused interests, we offer Math Club, Eco Club, Quiz and G.K. Clubs, public speaking and Computer Clubs. Dance and music activities, vocal and instrumental music. Keeping track of demands, new activities are also added from time to time.
Field trips related to the themes of the curriculum are a common feature at Presidency, especially for Kindergarten and primary school students. Students are trained to develop self- confidence and self-esteem so that they are able to take independent decisions. The school organizes trekking camps as well.
Value Education
In today’s age of competition and rivalry values are eroding. There is a total decadence in social and moral values. What is taught in school leaves a deep impression in the tender minds. Thus moral education is vital and cannot be over rated. Teaching of moral values in Shri-International School is not restricted to “Moral Science” class or “Value Education” period. Whether it is English, Science or even Math, moral values are integrated into the lessons. The student inculcates the values of kindness, being helpful, fair and polite while learning grammar or recycling.Discerning the difference between right and wrong is of vital importance to children of present day. So whether it is story-telling, puppet shows, conversation classes, the emphasis is on the ‘Moral of the Story’
Children participate in an open discussion and share their views. The moral is re instated many times to form a core virtue of the student.
In Theatre classes, topics in Math, such as time and money are made easy to comprehend through interesting activities, but the real essence of the lesson is the value of time and how much importance should be given to money. The answers elicited from the students are both endearing and thought provoking.
Morals And Spiritual
But unfortunately, the current educational system does not have education with morals and spiritual basis which is creating a great harm to the society. The current system has drawn morality and spirituality out and aims in training students to gain knowledge and skills only to compete and self consume in the global market. A rapid growth in the global economy, erosion of values around the world, rapid commercialization in present educational system takes us to the materialistic world.
When the focus is only on the intellectual aspect of human personality, neglecting the body and the spirit it is about to create an unbalanced personality and unfortunately today the whole world is witnessing such incidents.
Our main focus lies in inculcating the spiritual and moral values in students through various assemblies, value meetings, prayers and pooja to name a few.
